About Me
Olivia Redwood – Connor is an artist originally from South London who creates work centred around issues of Race, Feminism and Intersectionality using primarily live art and task-based performances. Her work draws on her own experiences as a woman of colour, specifically a mixed-race woman, in order to discuss whiteness and the reality of growing up and existing in a world where white is the standard. She focusses heavily on the idea of privilege and does not shy away from confronting her own privilege with being both mixed-race and having some white features. She often incorporates music and verbatim and utilises these tools to tell her stories, even if she remains silent, as she does in her solo performance, STILL N***A, and she often uses task-based performance in order to create an intimate and personal environment between her and the audience. Her work is targeted towards primarily white audiences as the aim of her work is often to make the audience confront their privilege, no matter how uncomfortable it may be, and her aim as a theatre maker is to reach audiences who do not share the same ideologies in order to provoke thought and possibly change.
